AFC's road to Russia standings after MD 2

It was a night for the away teams in Group B of the AFC's World Cup qualifiers overnight, with Japan, Saudi Arabia and the Caltex Socceroos all winners on the road.

The Saudis joined Australia as the only sides in the group with a 100 percent record after matchday 2, following a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Iraq in a match played at a neutral venue in Malaysia.

Despite going behind to Mohannad Abdul-Raheem’s goal after 18 minutes, Saudi Arabia stayed in the contest and struck twice inside the last 10 minutes to secure a precious three points.

Both goals were scored from the penalty spot as Nawaf Al-Abed held his nerve twice from 12 yards in the space of seven minutes.

Bert van Marwijk's side now share top spot with the Caltex Socceroos, who came away with a 1-0 win over the UAE – courtesy of Tim Cahill’s goal – in Abu Dhabi.

Both sides have six points from two matches, with Ange Postecoglou’s side in top spot on goal difference.
