Sainsbury came through the Central Coast system at the same time as national team-mate Ryan and also featured in the drought-breaking 2013 Grand Final triumph.
A move to PEC Zwolle of the Eredivisie soon followed but a highly unfortunate fractured kneecap on debut ended his season prematurely and dashed his hopes of a ticket to Brazil.
After swapping Europe for the Chinese Super League, he secured a surprise loan move to Inter Milan in January 2017 and is now on the books of Swiss Super League side Grasshopper Zurich.

Alongside Matthew Spiranovic, Sainsbury was immense in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup campaign. He scored in the semi-final and was named in the Team of the Tournament.
