The Gawler-born midfielder has given Australian fans many memorable moments domestically, including that special scorpion kick goal in 2018.

Currently, he is testing his abilities in the Championship with Middlesbrough. McGree joined the English side midway through the 2021/22 season following an 18-month loan with Birmingham City from his parent club Charlotte FC after acquiring him from Adelaide United in 2020.

McGree is a versatile midfielder with a keen eye for goals, as was displayed in his breakout 2019/20 A-League season spent at Adelaide where he notched 10 goals and five assists in 23 A-League appearances.

In June 2021, McGree made his debut for the Socceroos as a second-half substitute in a 3-0 victory against Kuwait. In his second appearance and his first start just days later, McGree delivered a top performance in a 5-1 drubbing of Chinese Taipei, as the now 22-year-old provided two assists for his country.

McGree became an Olympian a month later, starting every one of the Olyroos’ Tokyo 2020 fixtures. His first goal for the Socceroos occurred in a 4-0 win over Vietnam during a FIFA World Cup 2022 qualification match in Melbourne. The 24-year-old experienced his maiden FIFA World Cup in 2022, starting all four games and provided the assist for Mathew Leckie's stunning finish against Denmark.
