Rukavytsya made his name at Perth Glory where his form during the 2008/09 Season gained the attention of international clubs and then-Australia coach Pim Verbeek, who handed the speedster an international debut in August 2009

Moving to Dutch side FC Twente, Rukavytsya found game time hard to come by before a move to Germany provided him with regular minutes. Though he helped Hertha Berlin back to the Bundesliga, opportunities were more limited at Mainz and Frankfurt and he made the move back to the Hyundai A-League with Western Sydney Wanderers.

An unexpected departure to the Israeli Premier League has provided the left-footer with fresh impetus and clearly impressed, with the forward included in the 2018 FIFA World Cup squad. Nikita still calls Israel home, signing recently for his third Israeli club in five years.

Best Socceroos moment:

Rukavytsya's hot form during a loan spell at Roeselare rocketed him onto the roster for South Africa 2010, with Verbeek using him off the bench against Germany and Ghana.

Hyundai A-League connection:

Rukavytsya picked up the PFA's Harry Kewell Medal for an exceptional return of 10 goals while at Glory in 2008-09. He later netted three times for Wanderers in his only Hyundai A-League season since then.
