Along with Tim Cahill, Milligan is in line to be one of two Australians to have featured in four FIFA World Cup squads.

Milligan's was well-travelled by the time of his move to Melbourne Victory in January 2012 and put the experience to good use in a three and a half season spell that culminated in Grand Final glory and the Joe Marston Medal in 2015.

The adaptable, mobile midfielder had a second stint with Victory after more than 40 appearances at Baniyas, but left again for Saudia Arabian side Ah-Ahli in January.
