Denis Genreau played a pivotal role in the Olyroos successful qualification for the Tokyo Olympics, with former Socceroos assistant coach Ante Milicic bringing the young talent across to new A-League outfit Macarthur FC.
A strong season in Australia saw him selected not only for the Olympic Games, but also to make his Socceroos debut against Chinese Taipei in June 2021.
Genreau joined the Bulls from Melbourne City, and despite his former side lifting the Premiers Plate in 2020/21 Genreau will have no regrets of his decision to join Milicic in Macarthur, having played a pivotal role in midfield surrounded by experienced international talents such as Beñat Etxebarria, Markel Susaeta and former Socceroos captain Mark Milligan.
Genreau made his A-League debut for City as a 17-year-old. A loan move to Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle was to follow in 2018/19 before Genreau returned to City and ultimately departed for Macarthur.
Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold rewarded Genreau's hard work and impressive form in June 2021 with a call-up to the senior Australian side. Genreau made his international debut in a World Cup Qualifying match against Chinese Taipei.
The 22-year-old made his Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games with the Olyroos, starting all three group games against Argentina, Spain and Egypt.
Following the tournament, Genreau secured an exciting transfer to France – the nation of his birth – to represent Toulouse FC in Ligue 2.
