Born in Western Australia, Jones moved to Middlesbrough from Bayswater City in 1999 and eventually gained a more regular first-term berth after Mark Schwarzer's departure in 2008.

Two years later he completed a dream move to Liverpool, where he spent four seasons as a back-up to the likes of Pepe Reina.

Brief spells at Bradford City and NEC Nijmegen preceded a renaissance at Feyenoord, with whom the 'keeper won the Eredivisie in 2016/17.

A member of Australia's 2007 AFC Asian Cup campaign, Jones was selected in the 23 for the 2010 FIFA World Cup but was forced to pull out for family reasons. He is now on course to be included in Russia after ending a four-year international exile with his appearance against Colombia in March.
