Media in the UK are reporting that Socceroos defender Rhys Williams is on the brink of a move to the English Premier League with Swansea City.

BBC Sport have reported that Williams, currently of Middlesbrough, is close to agreeing a deal with Michael Laudrup's men, whose hand has been forced by injuries to Jonathan De Guzman, Jose Canas, Pablo Hernandez, Nathan Dyer and Michu.

"Things changed dramatically when we lost Jonathan de Guzman and Jose Canas in the space of a few days," Laudrup told the BBC.

Williams, who can play in midfield or defence, has 14 caps for the Socceroos and has made over 100 league appearances for Boro, scoring five goals.
