Subway Socceroos at Home: A-League Men’s 2022/23 Elimination Finals

It is win or go home for four incumbent Subway Socceroos as two Elimination Finals take place this weekend.

Third placed Adelaide United host sixth-ranked Wellington Phoenix in an intriguing Friday night clash, while Western Sydney Wanderers (fourth) entertain arch rivals Sydney FC (fifth) in a first ever finals meeting.

Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix

Craig Goodwin and Joe Gauci must help turn Adelaide United's fortunes around if they are to advance to the Semi-finals.

The Reds are winless in their previous four matches and have shipped eight goals in their last two, while suffering a heavy defeat against the Central Coast Mariners.

Goodwin finished the regular season with 12 goals and 10 assists and fans will be hopeful he can produce more magic to lead his team over the line in the do-or-die fixture.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC

Red and Black meets Sky Blue. Never before have the two sides crossed paths in the finals series until this Saturday night, in what promises to be an absolute blockbuster.

Brandon Borrello and Western Sydney Wanderers grabbed the bragging rights during the regular campaign, claiming two wins to Sydney's one which included a 4-0 humbling of their biggest foes in their most recent contest.

The 27-year-old has been in scintillating form, entering Saturday evening having scored in four consecutive games for a return of five goals. In 26 appearances, Borrello has bagged 13 goals and laid on a further five assists.

Meanwhile, Andrew Redmayne's Sky Blues appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time with three successive wins and unbeaten in their past five. The Harbour City outfit have also recorded back-to-back clean sheets.

The 35th instalment of the Sydney Derby is sure to be a cracker with Sydney determined to avenge its most recent encounter with the Wanderers.
