The FIFA World Cup hasn’t even started but the Socceroos have been overwhelmed with the level of support they have received in Brazil.

Since the start of June the @Socceroos twitter account has 12,000 new followers while the official Socceroos Instagram account has seen 3000 new fans jump on board.

Amazingly, the @Socceroos twitter account has been mentioned nearly 18,000 times while the hashtag #GoSocceroos has been tweeted more than 16,000 times.

To put it in perspective, the @Socceroos account is being mentioned more times per day on Twitter at the moment than the NRL, AFL or Cricket Australia accounts has ever had in a single day in their history.

Don’t forget to wear your Green and Gold today (Fri) to show your support for the Socceroos at the World Cup.

If you’re in Brazil, tweet using #AussieInBrazil and we’ll share your tweets with all the folks back home.

And don't forget to your very own Socceroos wallpaper below!
