Socceroos' Asian Cup hero joins Saudi club

Socceroos attacking midfielder James Troisi has joined Jeddah-based Ittihad FC in the Saudi Premier League.

The 27-year-old from Adelaide, who scored the winning goal in January's Asian Cup final, tweeted the signing overnight and said he was excited to meet his new club's fans in Saudi Arabia.

Ittihad FC are one of the most storied clubs in Saudi Arabia and is the current home of former AC Milan player Sulley Muntari.

Last season, Troisi went out on loan from his parent club Juventus to Zulte Waragem in Belgium.

He has previously been out on loan at Melbourne Victory but began his career in the youth ranks at Newcastle United in England.
