Socceroo Tommy Oar made his debut for Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup against Manchester United overnight while Socceroo striker Tomi Juric netted his first goal for new club Roda JC Kerkrade.
Juric – who made his Eredivisie debut against Feyenoord at the weekend – started in Roda’s KNVB Beker clash with De Treffers, netting his side’s second in a comfortable 3-0 win.
Fellow Aussie Rostyn Griffiths also played the full match for Roda while former Perth Glory youngster Daniel De Silva came off the bench just after the hour mark.
Meanwhile, Socceroo winger Tommy Oar made his competitive debut for Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup, with Mick McCarthy’s side suffering a 3-0 loss to Premier League giants Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Oar impressed in a 90 minute performance for the Blues but it wasn’t enough as goals to Wayne Rooney, Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial handed Louis Van Gaal’s side a 3-0 victory.
Elsewhere, James Holland got through a full game for MSV Duisburg but could do little as his side were thrashed 5-0 at home to Eintracht Braunschweig.
Tom Rogic backed up his goal-scoring performance against Dundee at the weekend with a substitute appearance in Celtic’s 2-0 League Cup win over Raith Rovers.
In Cup action elsewhere, Socceroo defender Tomislav Mrcela played 90 minutes for Lokomotiva Zagreb in their 8-0 drubbing of Nehaj in the HR Nogometni Cup.
