Socceroo opponents Kuwait finalise squad

The Socceroos’ first opponents at the Asian Cup Kuwait have finalised their 23-man squad for the tournament, with players from Al Qadsia dominating the squad.

The Kuwaiti Premier League champions have 10 players in the squad, with coach Nabil Maaloul selecting only two players who ply their trade abroad.

Defender Hussain Fadhel currently plays with Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, while Musaed Neda is based in Oman with Al Orouba.

Key players for Kuwait include Yousef Naser and Bader Al Almotawaa, who were both impressive at the recent Gulf Cup.

Kuwait opens the tournament against hosts Australia in Melbourne on Friday, January 9.

They also have Group A clashes against Korea Republic and Oman, who knocked them out of the recent Gulf Cup tournament in a 5-0 drubbing.
