McGowan plays for Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League, where he has played the majority of his senior career.
The 26-year-old defender has represented Australia at every level and has 12 caps for the Socceroos following his debut in the 2-1 win over Korea Republic in 2012.
Born in Adelaide, McGowan was part of Australia’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad and provided the assist for Tim Cahill’s dramatic goal against the Netherlands.
