Ryan denies West Ham in Brighton's big away win

Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan has put in another flawless display in the Premier League as his Brighton & Hove Albion side recorded a stunning 3-0 away win over West Ham on Saturday morning (AEDT).

It was Brighton’s first-ever away win in the EPL, with Ryan making a couple of superb stops to help his side to a valuable three points.

Striker Glenn Murray was Brighton’s hero with a brace either side of a Jose Izquierdo long-range stunner to double the visitor’s lead just before the break.

Ryan was called into action to keep the score at 1-0 in the first half, making a smart low save to keep out Pedro Obiang’s strike from distance.

The Caltex Socceroos custodian continued to deal with anything the Hammers through at him after the break, keeping his third clean sheet from nine appearances this season.

The win lifts Brighton up to 10th on the EPL ladder with 11 points ahead of the rest of the round’s matches later this weekend.

Ryan’s form is a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou and the Caltex Socceroos ahead of next month’s Intercontinental FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Honduras.
