The Qantas Young Socceroos (Australia u-20) have secured their first win of the South American tour with a 1-0 win over Chilean club Universidad de Chile (u-20) overnight in Santiago.

Once again AIS striker Bruce Djite scored for the Qantas Young Socceroos having done likewise in the 2-1 defeat against Colo Colo on Thursday.

Djite-s strike on 36 minutes was enough to separate the two sides although Australia finished the match in the ascendancy but were unable to secure a second goal.

The match also marked the Australian debut for Central Coast Mariners midfielder Brad Porter, New South Wales Institute-s Sebastian Ryall and South Australian Sports Institute-s Ryan McGowan.

The Qantas Young Socceroos will next meet Argentina on Wednesday (Thursday Aust time) in Buenos Aires, in what will be the first international of the tour with the match to be telecast live on Argentine television. The tour will conclude with two internationals against Chile (12 and 14 Aug).

Australia are preparing for the AFC U-20 Championship which will take place in India during October and November. The top four teams at the 16-nation tournament will qualify for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.
