The Qantas Futsalroos have recovered from its opening day loss to Kyrgyzstan, to defeat Kuwait 7-4 in its second match at the AFC Futsal Championships.

The victory though was not enough to qualify them for the semi finals, with Kyrgyzstan defeating Lebanon 7-3 and winning through, even if the results of the final games leave the two teams level on six points. Kyrgyzstan-s better head-to-head record will see them qualify.

Leading the way for the Futsalroos was captain Andrew Nolan with a hat-trick; Chris Zeballos scored twice and Lachlan Wright and Luke Haydon each got a single goal.

Wright opened the scoring after 5 minutes, only for Ahmad Humoud to equalise for Kuwait. However Nolan put the Futsalroos back in front in the 15th minute, while Luke Haydon made it 3-1 just a minute before the half time break.

Zeballos made it 4-1 after 25 minutes, before a it became a goal bonanza late in the match, with both sides scoring three goals in the final six minutes.

"Compared to our first match we defended better,” coach Scott Gilligan told the AFC Website. “We watched Kuwait in action against Lebanon on the first day and this helped us.”
