The Olyroos have ended their China tour on a high after beating Korea Republic 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Perth Glory’s Jamie Maclaren on Tuesday night in Wuhan.
The Glory striker’s goal came on 38 minutes after a defensive lapse saw a Korean defender’s clearance hit Maclaren with the ball rebounding into the net.
It was the least they deserved after a first half where the Korean keeper made a string of saves to keep out the Olyroos.
Melbourne Victory’s Connor Pain and Ryan Edwards of Reading with two of the best opportunities on goal in the first half.
The score remained 1-0 in the second half for the Olyroos to register their first win of the tournament.
This was the Olyroos’ third and final game of their China tour, a four-team tournament featuring the home nation as well as Brazil and Korea Republic.
