Moore confident no matter which team is put out

Queensland Roar captain Craig Moore is confident that whatever team Pim Verbeek puts out against Qatar, will get Australia off to the perfect start in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Moore, who started every game at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and scored against Croatia, is likely to be a key figure in Verbeek-s plans, with his experience and first hand knowledge of each other, when they were together at Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

“I think so,” said Moore, when asked if a predominantly Hyundai A-League team could get the job done against Qatar. “I am confident whatever team goes out and plays for Australia against Qatar will be good enough to get the points and get us off to a good start in the World Cup qualifiers.”

Moore, who did not attend any of the three one-day camps in Sydney during January, was impressed with the first session today and can feel the high intensity levels already.

“It was a good session and it was nice to come back into the squad and see the energy that is in the squad. Everybody-s out to impress and it was pretty fast and furious out there, which was good.”

Moore also confirmed that as far as his international future is concerned, he will take it one game at a time and that at this stage, it-s unlikely he will see through to the finals in 2010, if Australia was to make it.

Meanwhile, the first two overseas-based stars to arrive into camp put in solid sessions, with Jacob Burns on the training paddock only hours after arriving from Europe. Australian Under 23 midfielder James Troisi found the going tough, after arriving late last night from England.

“It-s very hard,” Troisi said, “I didn-t get any sleep last night and you have to acclimatise too, as the weather is very different. I have a while here though, so I should be fine".

The youngster, who is yet to make a first team appearance for Newcastle United in England, but has been part of the FA Cup travelling squad that went to Arsenal last weekend, is honoured to be here.

“This is actually my second (camp); I was involved when we played Ghana in London. I am very happy to be here and privileged to be here; I obviously want to do my best and try to impress.”

As for Burns, who has 5 A-international appearances next to his name and was involved in the 1-0 friendly win against Nigeria in November, he looked remarkably good considering he had literally just stepped off the plane earlier in the morning.

“It was quite tough to be honest; it-s quite warm out here and just getting off the plane a few hours ago, is a little bit demanding. But we have a short time to get things right and it has to be done.”

Despite not having played a match in the Polish league with Wisla Krakow since December 9 because of the winter break, Burns is not concerned over his match fitness.

“We have been away for the last three weeks in Spain and we played several games out there, so I-m feeling quite good and match fit. It was also quite warm in Spain, so I-m acclimatised to the warmer weather, which is good.”
