Queensland Roar captain Craig Moore has announced his retirement from international football following the Socceroos emphatic 3-0 win over Qatar on Wednesday night.

Some will argue, based on his performance in the match, that he is drawing his national team career to a close too early, but Moore told Fox Sports after the game that was it.

It was a fitting way for the 32-year-old Moore to draw a close to his stellar career with the Socceroos that has spanned 11 years since his debut against Ghana in 1995.

“That will be the last time for me", said Moore, after the game on national television.

“It was a great way to finish it off; a job well done and I-m really pleased with the career I-ve had with the national side."

Moore was glad he could end it on his terms and wished his teammates all the best for the rest of the campaign.

“It-s always a sad time when you-re finishing up but I-d rather go out on my terms. I believe that I wouldn-t be there for the 2010 campaign being back in Australia and I wish the boys all the very best. I-ll be following their campaign and I hope they a fantastic one."

Moore made 39 appearances in the green and gold, scoring 3 goals and said the highlight of his international career was scoring the goal against Croatia at the 2006 World Cup finals.
