Qantas Socceroo Scott McDonald has once again showed he will be one of the dominant strikers in Scotland this season, with a two-goal show in the opening match of the Wembley Cup.

Celtic warmed up for their Champions League qualifier against Luke Wilkshire's Dinamo Moscow next week by thrashing Egyptian side Al Ahly 5-0.

They opened the scoring through Italian midfielder Massimo Donati and went further ahead after McDonald won a penalty and converted himself for the second goal.

Shaun Maloney added a third after the break; McDonald scored a sublime second and New Zealand striker Chris Killen completed the scoring in the dying minutes. McDonald was at his menacing best for the 63 minutes he was on the pitch, almost having two goals inside the opening 10 minutes.

On the half hour, Celtic opened the scoring with a goal from Donati and then when McDonald went clear and past the keeper only to be brought down, he stepped up to calmly make it 2-0.

Maloney made it three in the 49th minute, but it was McDonald-s brilliant curling effort for his second and Celtic-s fourth that would have Australian coach Pim Verbeek licking his lips. Receiving the ball in the corner of the box, the Australian sized up his options before curling his shot inside the far post, much to the Celtic fans delight.

Killen, who came on for McDonald minutes later, added a fifth and final goal to give Celtic a terrific start in the four-team cup, which is also featuring Tottenham Hotspur and European Champions Barcelona.
