Qantas Socceroo Scott McDonald has come to the fore once again for his Celtic team, as they secured an unlikely passage through to the next phase of European Champions League qualifying.

Down 1-0 to Luke Wilkshire-s Dinamo Moscow after the home leg in Glasgow, McDonald levelled the tie at one apiece at the Arena Khimki in Moscow just before half time. His replacement Georgios Samaras scored an injury time winner to give Celtic a dramatic 2-0 victory and 2-1 aggregate win.

McDonald-s goal just a minute before half time, proved pivotal in the tie, heading home a superb cross by Andres Hinkel at the back post.

Wilkshire played a full game for Dinamo, but had little impact on the game.

In other tie-s featuring Australian players, Nikita Rukavytsya came on in the 79th minute for FC Twente as they looked on course to advance against Sporting Lisbon.

Twente took the lead after two minutes and ahead 1-0 on aggregate before Sporting scored five minutes into injury time and steal the tie away from the Dutch side on away goals.

Michael Petkovic did not play in the return leg of their tie with Anderlecht, which Sivasspor won 3-1 on the night, but not enough to overturn the 5-0 loss suffered in last week in Belgium.
