Westfield Matildas Melissa Barbieri and Sarah Walsh set off to Coffs Harbour on the 5th October to deliver the Illicit Drugs In Sport (IDIS) and Club Champions presentation to the Under 13 and 14 male players participating in the National Youth Championships.

Although it was a quick day trip, the event was considered to be a huge success in terms of reaching the audience and delivering the program-s key messages.

Combined with providing the players with crucial information surrounding the use of Illicit Drugs in Sport, Melissa and Sarah captured the audience with stories and experiences from their years spent representing the Westfield Matildas.

The response from the coaches and players was very positive, and the delivery of the presentations in particular was much appreciated. The young players were provided with a unique opportunity to learn the IDIS initiatives from an elite players perspective, which proved to be an invaluable experience for all involved.

The IDIS and Club Champions program will be travelling to Football West on the 22-23rd October and will be presented to approximately 100 coaches at the WA State Coaching Conference.

Westfield Matilda Katie Gill and former Perth Glory FC player Naum Sekulovski will be providing coaches with "responsible celebrating" and risk management strategies that they can implement with their teams.

FFA Game Development will work very closely with State Football federations to deliver these dedicated education programs to State Coaching Conferences and all community football programs in 2011/12.
