Half time - Kuwait lead 1-0 through a headed goal by Mesaed in the 37th minute. Kuwait, you would have to say, deserve their lead and have shown the benefits of a 9-day preparation camp. Both Archie Thompson and Tom Pondeljak both missed glorious chances within seconds of each other to give Australia the lead but other that, not much has worked for the Australian team.

He will start at right fullback in a 4-4-2 formation with Matt Simon joining Archie Thompson up front.
