Mathew Leckie got his name on the scoresheet but couldn't prevent his side falling to a loss in the Europa League on Friday (AEDT).
The Caltex Socceroos attacker headed home Hertha Berlin’s opening goal against Athletic Bilbao at Estadio San Mamés.
Unfortunately for Leckie, the home side eventually won 3-2, consigning Hertha Berlin to a group stage exit.
They will now refocus on the Bundesliga, where they play bottom-placed FC Koln on Monday morning.
Hertha Berlin are currently 14th in the 18-team German top flight.
