The former A-League star scored the second goal in Bochum’s 2-0 win with a composed finish from close range after a brilliant pass from Kevin Stoger.

Kruse’s goals have helped forge an upsurge in form for Bochum, moving up to 10 th spot on the 2.Bundesliga ladder after eight matches.

News of Kruse’s hot-streak in front of goal will be well received by Caltex Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou, especially with Australia’s vital FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Syria fast approaching.

Elsewhere in Germany overnight, Caltex Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren was involved in a six-goal thriller as Darmstadt 98 salvaged a 3-3 draw with Dynamo Dresden.

Maclaren was introduced on 72 minutes and watched on eight minutes later as the visitors took a 3-1 lead.

But Darmstadt struck twice in the dying minutes to pinch a draw to jump into the top four in the German second tier league.
