Injury has ruled Qantas Socceroo Chris Herd out of Australia's upcoming World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Oman and Thailand.
Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck today confirmed that Chris Herd would not travel to Dubai to join the squad for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Oman (Muscat, Friday 11 November 2011) or Thailand (Bangkok, Tuesday 15 November 2011).
Whilst playing for his club, Aston Villa, Herd sustained an ankle injury in the final moments of the English Premier League match against Norwich City on the weekend.
After consultation with the player, his club and the Qantas Socceroos medical staff, Osieck has decided that Herd would not be required in camp.
No additional player has been added to the Qantas Socceroos squad to replace Herd.
The Qantas Socceroos are beginning to assemble in Dubai for a short training camp before heading to Muscat on Thursday morning for their match against Oman on Friday.
Both matches will be broadcast live and exclusive throughout Australia by FOX SPORTS.
