Caltex Socceroos and Bradford City defender Ryan McGowan has undergone knee surgery.
McGowan confirmed the operation on his Twitter account on Friday morning.
At this stage it’s unclear how serious the problem is or how long the 28-year-old will be kept on the sidelines.
He’s almost certain to miss next month’s friendlies against Norway and Colombia but will be hoping to get on the pitch soon to press his claims for a spot in Bert van Marwijk’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
McGowan side with League One outfit Bradford in January from UAE club Al-Sharjah.
