Ibini's injury fears confirmed

Bernie Ibini’s worst fears have been confirmed with the Socceroo flyer set to miss four months of football with a fractured fibula.

Ibini, who suffered the injury on the first official day of pre-season training with Club Brugge, confirmed on Instagram he will undergo surgery in Gent on Wednesday. 

 

Absolutely devastated to say I've fractured my fibula which will require surgery and will be out for a while. This is only a speed bump and I'll be driven to come back bigger and better, thank you for the support thus far 🔵⚫️⚽️🙏|

The 22-year-old isn’t likely to be back to full fitness until October.

It’s a cruel blow for the ex-Sydney FC and Mariners attacker who made his dream move to Europe from Shanghai SIPG last month to link up with close mate Mat Ryan.

Ibini got plenty of support on Twitter with a host of players wishing him luck for his recovery.
