'Give me the same ball and I'd do it again!': Kuol reacts to outrageous scorpion kick

After scoring a spectacular scorpion kick that was immediately shared around the world, Alou Kuol reacted in a way that only he can.

Watch (or re-watch) Kuol's incredible strike in the player above.

The VFB Stuttgart striker provided a moment to savour in the Australia U23's 1-1 draw with Iraq on Saturday, flicking an inconceivable finish into the back of the net late in the first half.

Talking through the goal, Kuol explained how the finish was one of pure instinct.

"I was running forward and saw the ball go behind me, and I just thought 'yeah, let's do it'," he recalled.

"I couldn't do anything else so I just hit it and it came off."

When asked how the goal rated compared to the others he has bagged, Kuol responded in trademark fashion.

Out of ten? I'd give it a five. That's normal. Just give me the same ball and I'll do it again!"

"I'm lying, that was nice."

Despite scoring a goal that will be seen again and again in the coming weeks and months, Kuol left the Markarziy Stadium with a bittersweet feeling.

He and his teammates delivered a gutsy performance, having been reduced to ten men after just 17 minutes, but still emerged from the contest feeling they could have come away with all three points.

"Happy to get a point but it's a disappointing result 100 percent," reflected Kuol.

"We were up and we had to get on with it, but in the end Iraq were lucky to get away with a point."

Attention now turns to Australia's final AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 group game against Jordan on Tuesday, where a draw or win will see the team advance through to the knockout stages of the competition.
