Fresh injury concern for Caltex Socceroo hero after Aston Villa win
Caltex Socceroo captain Mile Jedinak had to be substituted off in Aston Villa’s 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in the English Championship overnight.
Jedinak was in the starting XI but was subbed off after 26 minutes with an injury.
Villa manager Steve Bruce hoped the injury wasn’t too bad for his midfield leader.
“Jedinak has a shoulder problem... with his clavicle.
"For him to come off with it, there’s something wrong. We hope it’s not too bad,” Bruce told AVFC media.
Aston Villa are now fourth in the Championship as they eye a Premier League return.
Jedinak has endured a wretched run of injuries this year.
He battled back from a groin complaint in the middle of the year to lead a triumphant Socceroos to a fourth consecutive World Cup qualification earlier this month.
It was a dominant display by Jedinak as he lead the Aussies to a 3-1 win in the intercontinental second leg World Cup playoff over Honduras on November 15.
The Caltex Socceroos are next in action in March.
