FIFA World Cup Draw: spotlight on Africa

The Caltex Socceroos could face an African side for just the second time at a FIFA World Cup when the draw for Russia 2018 is conducted on Saturday morning (AEDT). 

With three teams from CAF Confederation in pot three for tomorrow's draw, there is a distinct possibility Australia could come up against an African opponent in the group stage.

How they qualified for Russia: Winners of African Group E ahead of Uganda, winning four, drawing one and losing one of their matches, scoring eight goals and conceding four.

How they qualified for Russia: Undefeated winners of African Group C ahead of Cote D’Ivoire, winning three and drawing three of their matches, scoring 11 goals without conceding any.

Did you know? Morocco have won just two of their thirteen World Cup matches; they beat Portugal 3-1 in 1986 and Scotland 3-0 in 1998.
