Experienced heads to lead the way, says Holger

Qantas Socceroos coach Holger Osieck expects his senior Socceroos to lead from the front againt Korea Republic.

Qantas Socceroos coach Holger Osieck expects a tough match from Korea Republic, but more importantly he wants the more experienced Qantas Socceroos to lead from the front.

Osieck wasn-t shy about saying he wanted more from his senior players after some lacklustre performances in the early stages of World Cup Qualifying and he has again reiterated how important it is for them to lift the youngsters in his side.

“Most of the boys have been around for quite some time and know what they are expected, I expect the senior boys to play a leading role,” Osieck said.

“It will be very interesting for me to see how the boys respond to a handful of new players who haven-t played for a long period in the team, and they have the opportunity against an opponent who is really challenging.”

As for the Taeguk Warriors who are also undergoing somewhat of a generational change, Osieck expects the hallmarks of their game will remain the same.

“There is always a lot of talent and pace, and their technical ability is pretty good, whoever they field is going to give us a tough game.”
