WHAT-S MAKING THE NEWS

URUGUAY LEG

Reports from Uruguay suggest that the kick-off for the 1st Leg match in Montevideo will be 9.00pm, in an attempt to disrupt our flights for the return to Australia.

The Australian newspaper reports that its sources in Uruguay suggest the timing of the game is revenge for Australia denying a request by Uruguay to move the first leg forward a day.

The FFA has received no official confirmation of the kick-off time, as at the time of writing.

FIFA SECURITY

To appease concerns raised by Australia in lieu of the events in 2001 at the Montevideo airport, FIFA has appointed a security official for both matches of the play-off.
