Caltex Socceroos among the goals in Europe

Caltex Socceroos playmaker Tom Rogic and winger Mat Leckie were both among the goals in big wins for their respective clubs overnight.

Just a day after signing a new three-year contract at Celtic, Rogic celebrated with a classy brace in his side’s 5-0 rout of Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring on 20 minutes, controlling a lofted pass before rifling a powerful left-footed volley into the roof of the net.

Jackson Irvine was taken off on 74 minutes as his Burton Albion won 3-2 in extra-time against Bury FC in the English League Cup, while Tomi Juric lasted 76 minutes as his FC Luzern won 3-1 at Vaduz in Switzerland.

In Asia, Bruce Djite was a second half substitute as his Suwon FC lost 2-1 at league-leaders Jeonbuk Motors, while Tomi Mrcela got through 90 minutes but Jeonnam went down 2-0 at Seongnam.
