Reports suggest Tim Cahill could bring his Shanghai Shenhua teammates to Sydney in January for a training camp.
The Socceroos hero would be a huge drawcard in his hometown.
And his Chinese Super League team also includes former EPL stars Demba Ba and Mohamad Sissoko.
Shanghai Shenhua reached the Chinese FA Cup final this year but lost over two legs against Jiangsu Sainty.
With the Hyundai A-League in season in January it's unclear if there would be any games planned against local opposition or where the CSL club would train.
China's top league kicks off in late February/early March.
