Cahill Signs New Deal With Everton

Qantas Socceroo and Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has signed a new and improved five-year deal with the club.

Qantas Socceroo and Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has signed a new and improved five-year deal with the club.

Cahill rejected Everton-s initial improved offer several weeks ago, but he will now be at club until 2010.

His signing comes as a huge boost to Everton and its manager David Moyes on the eve of their Champions League qualifying match against Spanish side Villarreal.

Cahill proved a major success in his first season at Everton, prompting the club to improve his terms on his original contract signed after his transfer from Millwall.   Moyes told the club website: "We are pleased because it became a little bit more messy than we expected it to be."   Cahill said of his signing: "All the talk that has been going on hasn't helped but we knew we would come to a resolution.   "It was just a matter of sitting down with the gaffer and the club properly.   "It is done now and I am happy and all I can say is it is another dream come true, another five years at the club I love and the one that gave me my chance."
