Cahill named in MLS All-Star squad

Socceroo superstar Tim Cahill has capped off a stellar 12 months with New York Red Bulls after being named in the MLS All-Star squad to tackle Bayern Munich.

The selection comes just days after Cahill was named the best MLS player at the prestigious ESPY awards beating the likes of LA Galaxy superstar Robbie Keane and Montreal Impact’s Marco Di Vaio.

It has capped a superb return to club football for the Socceroo talisman after a successful World Cup where he scored twice, including a volley against Holland rated by many as the tournament’s best.

It is Cahill's second selection in the MLS All-Star team after being named in 2013 and is joined in the squad by Red Bulls teammates Thierry Henry and Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Other big names selected include English superstar Jermain Defoe , USA legend Landon Donovan and LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane.

The MLS All-Stars will face 2013-2014 German Bundesliga Champion F.C. Bayern Munich on Wednesday, August 6 at Providence Park in Portland.

The European powerhouse could field a host of superstars from the FIFA World Cup including Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben, Phillip Lahm and Mario Gotze.
