The Melbourne-born central defender graduated from the Victorian Institute of Sport in 2008 before heading to England to try his luck abroad. He made three appearances with the Joeys (under-17's) as a teenager but has yet to make an appearance for the senior team. Wright has certainly enjoyed a breakout season in League One with Preston North End, playing more than 40 games in the club's run to the play-offs. A hard-nosed defender, Wright is strong in the air an equally as comfortable with the ball at his feet, very much in the mould of the type of defender coach Ange Postecoglou likes.
