Aussies Abroad: Irvine scores, Devlin assists, Robertson wraps title

Jackson Irvine was on the scoresheet in the Hamburg derby but it was not enough for the win, while Cameron Devlin registered his sixth assist of the season.

Subway Socceroos

Starting in Germany, where Jackson Irvine played a full game and scored St. Pauli's third goal, nodding in a header from a corner, to bring the score to 4-3, but ultimately they were beaten by Hamburg SV on Saturday. 

Connor Metcalfe also came off the bench in the 59th minute.

Hamburg are second on 56 points while St Pauli are equal fourth on 47 points with five games to play. The top two automatically go up and the third plays off for promotion against 16th from the top flight.


In Scotland, Kye Rowles played a full game, Nathaniel Atkinson came off in the 58th minute, Cameron Devlin came off in the 67th minute and grabbed an assist while Garang Kuol was an unused substitute in Heart of Midlothian's 6-1 win over Ross County on Saturday.


Aaron Mooy also came off the bench in the 65th minute as Celtic drew 1-1 with Motherwell on Sunday.

Ryan Strain played a full game while Keanu Baccus played the first half in St Mirren's 2-0 loss to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Aziz Behich also played a full game for Dundee United in a 2-0 win over Livingston on Sunday.


 James Jeggo started but was red-carded in the 48th minute as Hibernian drew 1-1 against St Johnstone on Sunday. Ryan McGowan also played a full game for St Johnstone. 

In the Scottish Championship, Dylan McGowan played a full game for Hamilton Academical in a 2-2 draw with Inverness CT on Sunday.

In the English Championship, Tom Rogic came off the bench in the 90th minute for West Brom in a 2-1 loss to Sunderland on Sunday. 

In League One, Massimo Luongo started and came off in the 75th minute as Ipswich Town beat Peterborough 3-0 on Sunday to maintain second position and keep their promotion push on track. 


In the Premier League, Harry Souttar was an unused substitute as Leicester City picked up a vital 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. 

Leicester had claimed one point from their previous nine league games and the long-awaited victory moved Dean Smith's side out of the drop zone and up to 17th with 28 points - above Everton on goal difference.

In Premier League 2 Division 1, Alexander Robertson started and played 86 minutes for Manchester City U21 in a 3-0 win over Blackburn U21 on Sunday as the Citizens clinched a third straight league title.


In the Netherlands, Maty Ryan was in goal again as AZ returned to Eredivisie action on Monday in a 3-0 win over Fortuna Sittard. 

Ryan has now kept back-to-back clean sheets across his last two games in the Dutch Eredivisie, making four total saves across that stretch. He has also kept four clean sheets across his last seven league matches.

In France, Denis Genreau started again and played 83rd minute as Toulouse FC beat Lorient 1-0 on Sunday. 

In Czechia, Awer Mabil came on in the 74th minute for AC Sparta Prague in a 1-1 draw with 1. FC Slovácko on Sunday. 


In Serie B, Fran Karacic was an unused substitute for Brescia Calcio in a 2-1 win against Reggina on Saturday. 

In Belgium, Jason Davidson played a full game for KAS Eupen in a 7-0 loss to Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League on Monday. 

In Norway, Nick D'Agostino and Gianni Stensness both played full games for Viking FK in a 1-1 draw with Tromso on Monday. 

Over to Asia, where Thomas Deng played a full game for Albirex Niigata making 129 passes, the most of any player in a game this J1 League season. Unfortunately his side lost 2-0 to Kashima Antlers on Sunday. 

Mitch Langerak was in goal in the J1 League for Nagoya Grampus on Sunday in a 2-2 draw with Shonan Bellmare. 

In the K1 League, Harrison Delbridge played another full game for Incheon United in a 2-2 draw with Suwon FC on Saturday.

The MLS season also continued with Milos Degenek playing another full game for Columbus Crew in a 1-0 loss to Charlotte on Sunday.

Despite the loss, Degenek had a 95% passing accuracy, the third-highest of any player to attempt at least 50 passes. He was the only Columbus player to make multiple tackles (2), interceptions (3), duels (6), and possession wins (4) against Charlotte.


Elsewhere in the US, Brad Smith came off the bench in the 81st minute for Houston Dynamo FC in a 1-0 win over Inter Miami on Sunday, while Alex Gersbach was an unused substitute for Colorado Rapids in a 1-1 draw with St. Louis Sunday.

In Premier League 2 Division 1, Cameron Peupion played a full game, scored a goal and registered an assist as Brighton & Hove Albion U21 beat Manchester United U21 3-2 on Saturday. 


In League Two, Lachlan Brook came on in the 87th minute for Crewe Alexandra in a 2-0 loss to Leyton Orient on Sunday.

In the German 3. Liga, John Iredale started and came off in the 58th minute as SV Wehen Wiesbaden drew 1-1 with MSV Duisburg on Saturday.  

In the German Regionalliga West, Jacob Italiano came on in the 60th minute for Borussia Mönchengladbach II in a 2-2 draw with FC Köln II on Saturday.

In Scotland, Lewis Miller came off the bench in the 85th minute for Hibernian in a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on Sunday.

In Norway, Patrick Yazbek played another full game for Viking FK in a 1-1 draw with Tromso on Monday. 

Dylan Ryan was an unused substitute for FC Den Bosch in a 1-0 win over Roda on Saturday in the Eerste Divisie.
