Aussies abroad: Vukovic's clean sheet in crucial win over Anderlecht

Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper Danny Vukovic has kept a clean sheet as his side Genk won 1-0 at Belgian giants and defending Jupiler League champions Anderlecht overnight.

Anderlecht were unbeaten in their previous six matches, but were defeated by a determined Genk side who scored the game’s only goal early in the second half through Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo.

Other Socceroos were in action overnight.

GERSBACH RIDING HIGH IN NORWAY

Alex Gersbach’s Norwegian side have claimed a fifth victory in six games to remain ten points clear at the top of the Eliteserien.

A brace of goals from former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has helped steer Rosenborg to a comfortable 3-0 win at Brann.

Gersbach played a full part, but picked up a second-half booking.

Mathew Leckie has been involved in a fiery encounter in the German Bundesliga.

Tomi Juric has been unable to prevent his Swiss side from falling to a narrow home defeat to league leaders Young Boys.

The Caltex Socceroos striker played a full 90 minutes as Luzern were defeated 1-0, courtesy of a first half goal from Serbian striker Miralem Sulejmani.
