Aussies abroad: Millwall's run comes to an end

James Meredith played 77 minutes before coming off for Tim Cahill as Millwall’s remarkable end of season Championship dash crashed to an end with a 3-0 loss to Fulham.

It was a match between the two form teams of the competition with The Lions unbeaten in 17 fixtures prior to facing the white-hot Cottagers at the Den, but goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Kevin McDonald and Aleksandar Mitrovic saw Fulham cruise to their 17th victory from their last 22 matches and edge closer to automatic promotion.

Millwall remain in sixth position with Derby, Preston and Sheffield United all breathing down their neck with matches in hand over Neil Harris’ men.

Robbie Kruse played 90 minutes and got the assist for Lukas Hinterseer’s 82nd minute equalizer as Bochum drew 1-1 with Greuther Fürth in the 2. Bundesliga.

The result leaves Kruse’s side’s hopes of promotion into the Bundesliga in serious jeopardy with the side five points behind third-placed Holstein Kiel with three matches to play.

Over in France Alex Gersbach played a full match for Lens in a 3-3 draw with Le Havre in Ligue 2. Gersbach’s Lens led 3-1 at half time but were pulled back by two second half goals and remain 16th on the competition table.

Elsewhere Anthony Caceres played 60 minutes for Al Wal in a 2-0 win over Hatta in the UAE Arabian Gulf League, while Seb Pasquali was an unused substitute for Jong Ajax in its 2-1 win over Voldendam in the Eerste Divisie.
