Aussies Abroad: Rogic assists as Celtic overcome Hibs

Tom Rogic played his part as Celtic continued their winning ways in Scotland, assisting the opener in Celtic's 2-0 win over Martin Boyle's Hibernian on Tuesday morning (AEDT). 

Both Socceroos played 90 minutes at Celtic Park, as two first-half goals helped Ange Postecoglou's side continue their unbeaten streak in the league which dates back to September 2021. 

Having played one extra game, Celtic are within three points of Rangers at the Scottish Premiership summit, while Hibs are currently fifth.

Over in Germany, Jackson Irvine’s FC St. Pauli scored a 91st-minute equaliser in a 2 - 2 draw with second-bottom Erzgebrige.

Irvine started in midfield and played 76 minutes before being replaced in a result that keeps St. Pauli on top of the ladder by one point.

In Italy’s Serie B, Fran Karačic started at right-back for Brescia in an important 2 - 0 away win over Reggina.

With top of the table Pisa losing over the weekend, it leaves Brescia just one point away from the summit of Italy's second division.


In Belgium, central defender Trent Sainsbury was booked in a solid outing for  KV Kortrijk who drew 2 - 2 with Gent on Sunday morning.

In the Greek Super League, James Jeggo was introduced during Aris Thessaloniki's 0 - 0 draw with Apollon Smyrni on Sunday morning, a result that leaves Aris in 8th on the table.

To Holland, Danny Vukovic was an unused substitute for NEC Nijmegen's 0 - 0 draw with mid-table Heracles on Sunday morning.

In France’s Ligue 2, Denis Genreau came on in the fifth minute for Toulouse FC following an injury and was lively before being replaced in the 74th minute of a 1 - 1 draw with Pau.

Toulouse are one point off the top of the table with one game in hand.

Aziz Behich played another full match in Turkey as his Giresunspor were defeated 2 - 0 by Kasımpaşa S.K.

Riley McGree signed for Middlesbrough over the weekend and greeted the Boro fans for the first time as he watched his new side defeat Reading 2-1. 

The result takes Chris Wilder's outfit into the top six of the Championship - meaning McGree will be in the thick of a promotion battle once he makes his debut for the club. 

Meanwhile in Australia, Melbourne City trio Mathew LeckieAndrew Nabbout and Jamie Maclaren put on a show in an exciting 2 - 2 draw with Adelaide United.

Leckie assisted both Socceroos teammates with Nabbout and Maclaren finding the back of the net in a result that sees City climb into the top four.


Staying in the A-League Men's, Rhyan Grant's Sydney FC were involved in a 1 - 1 draw with Brisbane Roar with Grant as energetic as ever at right full back. 

The Sky Blues have had a mixed start to the season, claiming nine points from six games to sit in sixth spot.
