Aussies Abroad: Kennedy on fire

Qantas Socceroos striker Josh Kennedy continued his great season in front of goal in the J-League with the opener in Nagoya Grampus' 3-0 win over Montedio Yamagata.

Qantas Socceroos striker Josh Kennedy continued his great season in front of goal in the J-League with the opener in Nagoya Grampus' 3-0 win over Montedio Yamagata.

Tim Cahill, meanwhile, remains scoreless for Everton, but not for lack of trying.

The 32-year-old featured in the Toffees' 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers but Cahill, who hasn't scored for Everton since December 20 last year, failed to join teammates Marouane Fellaini and Apostolos Vellios on the goal list.

Everton boss David Moyes said before the match he has been concerned about Cahill's form.

"It's a worry. Since Tim was away at the tournament last year it's been tough and he's not quite back to where we would want him to be, although his effort and the part he plays for us means he is still really important," Moyes said.

"He gets eight to 10 goals a season generally and we have no reason to think he won't get that."

Chris Herd missed a golden opportunity in the second half as Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Herd, who was called up by Socceroos coach Holger Osieck for the recent double-header against Oman and Thailand but had to withdraw through injury, headed wide from a tantialising cross late on in one of the best chances of a dour match.

In the Eredivisie, Michael Zullo played a full game while Adam Sarota came on as a substitute with 16 minutes remaining as FC Utrecht lost 2-0 to Brett Holman's AZ Alkmaar.

In the nPower Championship, Neil Kilkenny continued his recent excellent club form as Bristol City stunned leaders Southampton 2-0.
