Aussies abroad: Borrello continues to shine

Caltex Socceroos hopeful Brandon Borrello has continued his impressive form in Germany overnight, picking up an assist in Kaiserslautern’s narrow defeat in the 2.Bundesliga.

The former Roar flyer set up teammate Osayamen Osawe on the stroke of half-time to put his side on level terms with Greuther Fürth at the break.

Borrello’s effort wasn’t enough though as Croatian defender Mario Maloca netted with just under 20 minutes remaining to hand Fürth a 2-1 victory.

The Aussie was substituted in the 81st minute for the visitors.

It continues an impressive run of form for the 22-year-old with the attacker having netted three goals and contributed two assists in his last five matches.

Elsewhere, Robbie Kruse played a full match as Bochum were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Holstein Kiel.

In the Bundesliga, Mat Leckie was an unused substitute as Hertha Berlin played out a scoreless draw at home to Freiburg.

In Turkey, Aziz Behich got through 90 minutes as Bursaspor suffered a 2-1 loss away to Osmanlıspor.
