Aussies abroad: Amini's AGF lose in Denmark

Aussie Mustafa Amini played a full 90 minutes overnight in the Danish Superliga but wasn't able to inspire his AGF side to a win.

The fringe Caltex Socceroo was in the midfield for AGF Aarhus in their league clash away at fourth-placed Sonderjyske.

But the home side scored early and added two more in the second half for a comfortable 3-0 victory.

It was a second consecutive defeat for Amini's side who now sit 10th in the 14-team league.

Aarhus next host fifth placed Odense on Monday morning.

Amini, a former Central Coast Mariner, is hoping to force his way into the Caltex Socceroos for their crucial upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers with the squad announced in coming weeks.

Australia meets Japan away on August 31 before rounding out the group stage at home to Thailand in Melbourne on Tuesday September 5.
