Aussies Abroad: Genreau wins French Cup, Mooy reaches Scottish Cup Final

In another bumper weekend of Aussies Abroad action, Denis Genreau's Toulouse beat Nantes 5-1 in the final of the Coupe de France, Aaron Mooy's Celtic also reached the Scottish Cup final and Awer Mabil scored two goals.

Subway Socceroos

Starting in France, where Denis Genreau was an unused substitute as Toulouse FC cruised to a 5-1 win over Nantes to win the Coupe de France on Sunday. 

It is the club's first-ever trophy and secures the newly-promoted club qualification for the Europa League next season. 

In Scotland, Aaron Mooy came off the bench in the 66th minute as Celtic beat Rangers 1-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.

With the League Cup already in the bag, and the Premiership looking all but done, the treble is on the cards.

Celtic will meet Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final.

In Czechia, Awer Mabil came off the bench at half time and scored two penalties as AC Sparta Prague beat Liberec 3-1 on Sunday. 

It is a result that helps Sparta remain on top of the table with 30 matches played. 

In Norway, Nick D'Agostino also found himself on the scoresheet and picked up an assist in a 76-minute performance for Viking FK in a 7-3 win over HamKam on Monday while Subway Olyroo Patrick Yazbek also played 76 minutes and assisted. Gianni Stensness also played a full game. 

In the K2 League, Mitch Duke returned from injury with 74 minutes and an assist in Machida Zelvia's 2-1 win over Roasso Kumamoto on Saturday.


In League One, Massimo Luongo played 75 minutes and grabbed a goal for Ipswich in a 6-0 win over Exeter City on Sunday as the Blues secured promotion to the Championship in style with an outstanding victory.

Ipswich have had a magnificent run towards the end of the season and the win made it 13 victories from their last 14 League One games.


After wrapping up the Premier League 2 Division 1 title last weekend, Alexander Robertson started, played 45 minutes and registered an assist for Manchester City U21 in a 4-3 win over Wolves U21 on Saturday. 

In Germany, Jackson Irvine played another full game while Connor Metcalfe came off the bench in the 66th minute as St Pauli returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Arminia on Saturday.


In the MLS, Milos Degenek started but was substituted in the 13th minute due to a leg injury as Columbus Crew lost 2-1 to Inter Miami on Sunday. 

Over to Asia, where Mitch Langerak was in goal as Nagoya Grampus drew 1-1 with Kevin Muscat's Yokohama FM on Saturday in the J1 League.

In League Two, where Lachlan Brook came on in the 80th minute for Crewe Alexandra in a 2-1 win against Swindon Town on Sunday.

In the German Regionalliga West, Jacob Italiano played 90 minutes for Borussia Mönchengladbach II in a 3-2 win against SV Lippstadt 08 on Saturday.

In the German 3. Liga, John Iredale came on in the 76th minute for SV Wehen Wiesbaden in a 2-1 loss to SV Meppen on Saturday.

Dylan Ryan came off the bench in the 70th minute in the Eerste Divisie as FC Den Bosch lost 1-0 to Telstar on Saturday. 

Elsewhere in the Eerste Divisie, Josh Rawlins came on in the second half as Jong FC Utrecht lost 2-0 to FC Eindhoven on Friday.
