Aussie striker scores in Swiss league opener

In good news for the Caltex Socceroos, Tomi Juric has been a match-winner in Switzerland overnight as the Swiss League kicked off its new season.

The Socceroos striker headed home the only goal of Luzern's opening day home clash with Lugano in the Swiss Super League.

JURIC FIRING AT THE RIGHT TIME

Juric scored 11 goals in league and cup competitions for Luzern last season.

The tall marksman also started all three of the Caltex Socceroos' games at June’s Confederations Cup, scoring against Germany in Australia's opening game of the tournament in Russia.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou will be delighted to see the former AFC Champions League winner is in form with the final two crucial group clashes coming up against Japan (Aug 31) and Thailand (Sep 5) in qualification for the World Cup in Russia 2018.
