Aaron Mooy's impressive Premier League tackling stat

Caltex Socceroos star Aaron Mooy has quickly become a hit in the Premier League, making a superb start to life in England’s top-flight with Huddersfield Town.

The 27-year-old has caught the eye for his sublime passing and assured displays in the Terriers’ midfield but it’s another stat that Mooy is also dominating in.

The ex-Hyundai A-League playmaker is second in the Premier League for tackles made, with 29 after eight rounds of the 2017/18 Season.

Not bad for a player in his maiden season in the top flight.

Only Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi (35) has made more tackles than the Australian midfielder.

While Mooy shares second spot with teammate Christopher Schindler, impressively he sits ahead of Chelsea’s French international N’Golo Kante, renowned as the EPL’s best defensive midfielder.

Adding to the excellent stats for the defensive-side of Mooy’s game, he’s also made 14 clearances, eight interceptions and blocked four shots for David Wagner’s men.

Mooy has also made 454 passes for Town and swung in 53 crosses to go with his one assist and winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United earlier in the campaign.

It’s all great news for Caltex Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou ahead of Australia’s make-or-break Intercontinental Playoff against Honduras next month.
