Transfer confirmed: Socceroo joins Dutch club

Socceroo goalkeeper Brad Jones has confirmed he has joined Dutch club NEC Nijmegen for the rest of the Eredivisie season.

After passing a medical on Monday (AEDT), the ex-Liverpool shot-stopper put pen to paper on a six-month deal with the Eredivisie high-flyers.

He will immediately fly out with the squad to Marbella in Spain for a training camp while the Dutch league is on their winter break.

Jones has been drafted in by NEC to provide cover due to injuries to two of the club’s other goalkeepers Hannes Halldórsson and Joshua Smits.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since October after he was released by English League One club Bradford City.

Jones was released by Liverpool at the end of last season after making just 26 appearances in five seasons for the Reds.

The Dutch league resumes on January 17, with NEC hosting Willem II.
